Being at Peace

Guernica

How do we become peaceful?

Does being at peace mean that our being is peaceful?
Or does it depend on our circumstances?

Nicholas has been the minister at the Aspen Chapel since 2014, having come to Colorado from England.
He is the Author of 2 books:
“Developing Consciousness – A Roadmap of the Journey to Enlightenment” published by ‘O Books’ in 2011, and “Living the Life-Force” published by Ozark Mountain Publishing in 2019.

Nicholas has been committed to a path of personal transformation for 40 years; exploring the relationship between consciousness and spirituality through all the great wisdom traditions.

Although he is ordained as an Anglican Priest, he uses the Tao Te Ching, The Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita, The Dhammapada, and The Koran among many other sacred texts to help him on his path.

His passion is to enable people to find their own paths to understanding the great mysteries of life and to that end he gives talks in the Chapel every Sunday and new episodes will be available here weekly.

Following on from Cynthia Boureault's visit, we look further at that quote on chaos from Thomas Keating and also what it means to 'Be at Peace'. Is 'Being" a noun or a verb?

Being at Peace

Stages of Peace

5. Stages of Peace

6. Peace in our Time?

The idea of ‘Peace in our Time’ has become synonymous with the failure to achieve it. The image of Neville Chamberlain waving a piece of paper signed by Adolph Hitler has gone down in history as both a humiliation and a warning against appeasement. And yet surely ‘Peace in our time’ is our goal. Our goal is to be able to look back on war in the same way that we now look back on slavery. With an understanding that it was wrong, that there are still instances of it today. But for most of us the arguments for or against it have been confined to the dustbin of history. That is how we should be looking at war. And yet here we are today with over 30 armed conflicts between nations going on around the world. And people thinking that it is OK to send missiles and bombs halfway around the world to settle scores. There has to be a better way. And what can we do to stop it?

Making Peace
7. Making Peace
We have to make peace with everything in our lives. It is an active, ongoing task. Peace with our minds, with our bodies, with our circumstances. Only then can we be at peace. But how do we do it?

bodies
8. Being at Peace with our Bodies

We are often at war with our bodies - diets, exercise, the unwanted judgements of others. How can we make peace and be satisfied with the only bodies we will ever have.
peace and Harmony
9. Peace and Harmony

What is the product of peace? Harmony. So how do we create more of both in out lives?
